Fund For The Arts Kicks Off Public Phase Of Annual Campaign
The Greater Louisville Fund for the Arts, the oldest united arts fund in America, kicked off the public phase of its 2004 campaign with over 1,400 community members at a celebratory lunch at the Brown Theatre on Wednesday, February 4, 2004 at 12:00 noon. This year's campaign theme is Just Say Yes! The Fund's 2004 campaign goal is $7.7 million.
2004 Fund for the Arts Campaign Chairman David Brooks, Chairman & CEO of Stock Yards Bank & Trust Company, reported that while the campaign is already at 50% of goal, widespread effort is needed over the next five months to guarantee adequate support for the Fund's 25 member groups and programs. "This kick off represents an exciting time for the arts in our community. We look forward to a successful campaign season as citizens continue to respond enthusiastically to our call for support."
Allan Cowen, President and CEO of the Fund for the Arts, adds that "Our acclaimed arts organizations are justifiably the envy of many communities around the country, and we hope the community will continue to respond enthusiastically to our call for support."
Special performances at the kick off celebration included: The Louisville Youth Choir, Stage One, The Louisville Orchestra’s violist, Jamie Hoffman, Kentucky Shakespeare Festival, The West Louisville Boys Choir, The Louisville Bach Society, Kentucky Opera, The Louisville Ballet, Louisville Visual Art Association, and the Museum for Arts + Design. Other guests included Mayor Jerry Abramson, Jefferson County Elementary Public Schools: Byck, Frayser, Luhr, Martin Luther King, Minors Lane.
