Employee/Workplace Campaigns See Greatest Increase Raising
More than
$200,000
in Additional Funds
The
Fund for the Arts today announced its final fundraising
total of $7,943,512 surpassing its goal of $7,654,321.
Significant increases were achieved through employee/workplace
campaigns which raised $200,000 in additional funds for
an 8% increase over 2005. Five organizations including
Metro Louisville, Jefferson County Public Schools, Yum!
Brands, Chase and Brown-Forman lead the employee/workplace
campaigns increases.
“We
want to thank the more than 26,000 friends, corporations,
employees, families and individuals throughout our community
who have shown their commitment to the Arts in our region,”
said Allan Cowen, President and CEO of the Fund for the
Arts.
Donor
trends show that renewing corporations increased their
corporate gifts by an average of 5% in the 2006 campaign,
slightly more than the earlier projected 3% increase.
Likewise, a total of 18 new employee/workplace campaigns
were started during the 2006 campaign which generated
$45,158 from 366 donors.
The
Fund for the Arts celebrated its campaign success on July
18 in the Bingham Theatre at Actors Theatre with an hour-long
event recognizing and acknowledging outstanding volunteers,
employee/workplace campaigns with incredible increases,
and the top employee/workplace campaigns. An American
Idol-style showcase followed the awards presentation with
highlights from some of the best performers discovered
in this year's employee/workplace Idol competitions.
The
Fund for the Arts also unveiled its new campaign graphics
and campaign slogan during the public event. Every
1 Plays is the new campaign slogan with a tagline
of “Strength in Numbers” as the campaign message. Strong
army green images of a WWI soldier playing a bugle and
a triangular medallion with the campaign messages are
key design elements that will support the 2007 fund raising
efforts.
The
Fund for the Arts continues to set the benchmark for local,
regional and national fund raising organizations by continually
keeping its administrative and fund raising expenses at
a minimum. In 2005, the Fund for the Arts reported that
its fundraising expenses were 13% and its management expenses
were 3% of its overall budget, leaving 84% of the funds
raised available for allocations to its member groups
and programs supported by more than 200 Arts partners
in the community. “By every measure, the Fund for the
Arts is perhaps one of our community and nation's most
efficient fund raising organizations at comparable rates
or often well below national standards when it comes to
administrative, fund raising and bad debt expenses,” stated
Cowen.
The
2006 Fund for the Arts campaign was chaired by Herbert
“Bud” Schardein, Executive Director of Louisville's Metropolitan
Sewer District (MSD). Schardein will be succeeded by Ronald
J. Murphy, Founder, CEO and Chief Investment Officer of
The Glenview Trust Company.
